I need some assistance with the rear valance cutout for a 71 RR GTX.
I am unable to secure a new part, so I was able to get my hands on one with no cutouts.
My plan is to do it myself.
I have my original one which is mangled, so it would be a good test before cutting up a new one.
I have found a few posts on the web of others who successfully have done this, but they are all missing one thing. The exact measurements.

I would greatly appreciate if someone can take some measurements off of their original for me.
Especially interested in the top of valance to the top of the cutout.
I believe the width should be 3.9", but i would like to verify that as well.

Thank you all in advance for you assistance!.

A member 72RoadrunnerGTX(?) did this years ago If I remember right. AMD might be out of stock, just like everyone else for even the simple small pieces, but is worth the wait too

I made some wooden bucks and hammered the lips over. I thought I had one with the measurements but can't find it.

The outside buck should be concave and the inside buck convex as well. If you're not in a hurry you could also buy the decor stripes for the valance to lay over and help with placement.

It's been probably 15 years but my foggy memory recalls having to add a small pie shaped piece of sheetmetal along the bottom lip one at least 1 side. Kind of a fun project actually.

Yea, fairly easy mod. Simple slight inward fold and adding a small piece to make an accurate copy of the factory cut-outs. Pm me if interested in a scale correct copy of the pictured template used, traced from an original.

Assuming the dotted lines are for the fold.

Thanks to 72RoadrunnerGTX,
I was able to get started on the valance.
I spent about 2 hours so far, and was able to get them roughed in.
Thanks again, you just saved me months more of waiting in AMD, and a fist full of money!
