Browsed through the Apr issue of Mopar Action at a local supermarket.

In an article of "tech tricks" it advises "...can't get enough negative camber?....add a shim between the LCA and the LBJ/spindle...1/4" (IIRC) is enough"

Doesn't that basically make the spindle the same height as the 73-79 spindle we were so vehemently warned against using?

Interestingly, 2 pages later in the same article they say "...if you read the 'disc o tech' article, then you know how to upgrade to disc the right way..."

It should have said between the lower ball joint and the knuckle. The shims go over the bottom bolts between the knuckle and the ball joint/steering arm.

The tech tip is correct. If you look at the diagram, it's a spacer goes in vertically to kick out the lower portion of the knuckle.

Might have said that, but the point is it makes the spindle taller, which is what E berg said was bad.

The shim is supposed to go between the ball joint and the spindle not the lower control arm. So that wouldnt change spindle height.

OK, one more time-

increases distance between ball joints.

putting the shims in between the spindle and the steering arm actually shortens the distance between the ball joints, so while you're increasing negative static camber, you're also minimally reducing negative camber gain on compression
