73 charger Ac problems

So I bought a 73 a few years back and it had the ac hooked up and converted to the r134 connectors but never worked i started looking at it today found out the clutch on the compressor worked and looked like it just needed to be charged i went and vacuumed it done and started adding everything back oil and freon by the time I got to the second can of freon and all of a sudden the high side pressure shot up to 350 psi what could cause this

What fan on the radiator? If electric was it running?
 
The expansion valve is probably bad do you know where the cycling switch is or is there a switch on the low side or high side if you unplug it does the compressor quit or start should look at the factory service manual for the Diagnostics on this
 
If the system says it takes a certain amount of pounds when we did it it was an 80% fill ratio so if it was 4 lb it would basically be 3.25 lbs?. Then see where the high and low psi readings are ?

Yea the only switch I found was the low pressure switch that I had to jump out to put the freon in

Yea after switching over it was supposed to need 8 to 10 Oz of oil and 36 Oz of freon and I only got to 12 of freon
 
Did you check the oil level when you started? Was it empty?

So the compressor needs one amount of oil but when you charge the system you mainly only use 2 oz so compressor fill is separate from the system fill
 
An overcharge of oil will surely send the high side numbers very high. to remove excess oil take the condenser out turn it so it will drain and see what comes out and measure it. and you might need to remove the compressor drain it and then fill it with its recommended amount. these are particular steps for that style of a system they have to be done right for it to operate properly because it's almost an air compressor, if you're using a factory style compressor.

Ok i was told to vacuum it down for awhile and it would pull the oil out too but I did order the expansion valve so Im gonna replace that and while doing that ill try to drain everything they have ac o rings on hand at the oriellys hopefully they will fitt unfortunately at the same time this car sat for years so I tried to run it with it warm and it didnt have any power like put in reverse and it died lol it was at my dads and I drove it down there no problem
 
And for context my dad was a mopar guy since I grew up and when I came up I fell in love with chevy trucks and mopar cars unfortunately I didnt have the money for a car until now so I can work 80s to 90s chevys blindfolded backwards and towards but dodge is apparently a new beast

the vacuum pump isn't going to remove the oil from the system (maybe a small amount), it's purpose is to remove moisture from the system that is in the air when you open the system. As stated above, too much oil will affect the system's ability to cool and pressure readings. Did you spray water on your condenser while the pressure was high to see if it dropped? I'll sometimes do that to get an idea if it's getting enough air flow to cool if I suspect a fan clutch isn't up to par. I think you said you had electric fans so this may or may not apply as long as they are sufficient cfm

If you really want to do it right the way to start is once you've removed the freon, then you would flush the components, you can remove or flush in place or if they are too difficult to remove. For instance you would use the flush on the evaporator core, once it's clean it needs 2 oz of oil then drain the compressor refill it with the correct amount, drain and flush the condenser and then install a new receiver dryer with 4 oz of oil, this is how I have done all my components for years with air conditioning and never had a failure and see how the system works because two will wind up in the condenser, and two will wind up in the evaporator and when you evacuate a system it's 45 minutes
