Howdy,
I recently picked up a '74 Charger and am looking for help or information with the engine/carburetor combination I'm working with. I want to get the right shop manual for it, so any suggestions would help.

VIN is: WH23G4G

The engine ID stamped on the side is:
2535030 318 1-? (can't see the rest due to the exhaust manifold)
Front engine stamp is:
4M318 10171892 (may be misprinted?)

Carburetor is a Carter 0-2378 2

I know the VIN code is a '74 Charger high price point 2dr hardtop w/318.

On the Factory Service Manual, I don't know if there are reproductions for 1974?
I would search for "1974 Charger Factory Service manual". Might be something on E-Bay?
There may be some non-factory service manuals like from Chilton. Rock auto sells a CD or USB manual (non factory). I had problems with the USB version not fitting my computers USB port because of the cheap case it was in.
There is not much really different with the engine/carb/ignition from earlier models except maybe the emissions/EGR, so it likely has some thermal vacuum switches and vacuum lines the earlier engines didn't have.

The pictured engine with engine number 4M318 10171892, et.al. is a 1974 model year 318 built at the Mound Road Engine Plant in Detroit, Michigan, on October 17, 1973. It was the 1892nd engine built that day at that plant. "2535030" is actually 2536030 which is the casting number for a 1967 - 1975 318 block. "318 1-?" is the suffix to the casting number, also denoting 318.

"0-2378 2" is the casting number of the main body of the carburetor, not the carburetor model number. That body casting is part of a Carter BBD 1-1/4 two-barrel carburetor. The body was used in 1974, and other years. The model number was originally stamped on a metal tag under one of the bowl cover screws, which is often missing if the carburetor has been taken apart.

The factory service manual is the 1974 Dodge Chassis and Body service manual set:

By the way, that 318 was originally blue, so with the black and red paint, plus chrome valve covers, etc. some things have been done to it. The blue would look similar to the engine in this image:
