It is a pretty obvious pad, but pre 68 manual transmissions did not have them. You can't go by the side cover that is on there now. You can't go by the tailshaft housing that is on there now either, but one shifter pad is pre 70, more or less.
have been looking at there site,no info on casting # for years. Thinking it could be 67 do to no serial-vin numbers. Only way to know if 18/23 spline is to pull it.
Pull the bottom inspection cover and have a good look. You should be able to see/count the splines peaking though the pressure plate assembly... unless you have a lakewood scatter shield housing..
Excuse me for hijacking, can anybody tell me the difference between a 23/18 spline 833 except for incoming axle and maybe bearing? Some say some 23's came with 308 bearing? Is house casting the same? Yes i'm gonna get a book.
