I need to repair the evaporator in my 69. Think I popped a solder joint while changing the expansion valve as I had to take the big line off and that's what's leaking now. Do I need to remove the whole dash to access the heater/ac box? I changed the heater core years ago without removing the dash but don't remember if I could get to the ac or not and it's not readily apparent to me at the moment.

Yes, removal and complete teardown required

Dash removal is not required, just R+R the box .
FYI,,,,,MUCH easier if you pull the pass side seat and slide the console back if equipped
