As others have said, maybe just change the frame of thinking even just a touch. Hang in there, and explore the idea of something totally different too. Even if it’s a ‘Wally world’ greeter. Even a little money coming in buys a lot of time to think and options down the road.

If you want to and must sell your car I respect that too as it’s not worth losing a house over and putting family members in a future bad spot too. So that is commendable. I looked a little at the pics and some of your posts regarding the car, and although value is very subjective and hard to determine without seeing it in person I would put that car at $30,000 - $40/45,000. Again dependant on several factors. Fire sale price maybe 25,000.

    Good luck with your decision’s.

Ed my friend, am so sorry to read this, you are a good man, and God take care of the good fellas like you, me too have been in the same situation, I study psychology and biology one day I wake up with 2 pesos, man that sucks, but I manage to raise again and now, i wash dirty laundry for other people, but I have a good life thank God, in my experience you can be in a tight spot but not stuck.

You should really listen to the biggest advice here for you, calm down, review all your choices, for a job you are not old you are experienced, and that's your leverage, you know the market and you have the loyalty of your customers, for other companies that's the best asset a salesman can have and you have it, take a ride in the X, clear your mind, think very carefully your next step, never late to start a business, USA is the land if opportunities and you'll find one.
      Tu amigo León.

It sounds like this isn't your first rodeo? I have 3 years on you and I just don't want to play the corporate BS that goes with it anymore, reinvent yourself if you already haven't done so? I can't help on the car but you gotta do what you gotta do with it. Keep your options open and something will come up when you least expect it. Good Luck

              sorry to hear this
as a Self Employed person pretty much my whole adult life

I can relate to, needing to find work

I worked several jobs/careers at the same time, many times
reinvented myself more times than I'd like to admit
even when I had a couple thriving co.'s,
              Facility Management, Construction, Gun/Shooting Range
              & Golf Pro Shop after I semi-retired

strike while the iron is hot,
make everything you can, while you can

packing away cash & saving when ever I could
(25% or more of everything, I earned, even if it hurt some to do so)
              sacrificing

I worked my ass off, for family & for my personal time/hobbies
just to be sure 'I could survive the shit storm'
have the $$ to pay multiple mortgages, cloth/feed the kids & monthly bills,
insurance & pay for all their needs, that they had/have a better life than I did

              good luck on your quest
compared to your many former health issues
(dying 4 times & cancer) this is nothing

that's why a nest egg is so important
instead of frivolous spending on some old car when it's not affordable
(fine if you have the extra $$$)
saving/preparing for these times, cars will come & go
              so will jobs

I also know it's hard when you have so many health issues
knocking you down, time after time
but you need to do it for days like this
for your family, for your sanity

              --------------------------------------------------------------------

as to the value of the GTX, IMO $25k to $50k
or possibly more (depending on the car & options)
also depending on originality (big deal in the MoPar world)
& especially the quality of the work done to it, OE or not
the non matching #'s or color changes etc.
that stuff, can take a big value hit, as much as 25% or more,
              in perceived sellers/buyers market value

hopefully it doesn't come down to selling it

it's a car & it can be replaced, eventually
              you'll still have the memories

              good luck
if you do ultimately decide to sell

I've sold so many cars to make ends meet, over my 60 years
I sold engines out of my cars or sold my racecars, trailers
even sold my tow rig, just to make payroll, so nobody went hungry
you do what ever you have to do, to make ends meet

one door gets slammed shut & another one opens

life has a way to knock you down & lift you back up
sometimes it sucks, stay strong, make good well thought out decisions

              best wishes

Thanks and God bless you all. I've read every one of your posts now and I am humbled.
                  A couple things:
                  1. There is no nest egg because of existing obligations, etc. Yes, it's good to have. No, I don't have it.
                  2. I'm beating the bushes on every and any business I can find in the region right now.
Some have been encouraging and have accepted my resume' (first time in 23 years I made one of those!)
while others have been polite but frank in their answers.
Lots of nibbles, no bites - so I carry on, in between genuine panic attacks, which I wasn't aware I was
                  even capable of having.

This last company cut things off so abruptly that I still have some of their equipment, along with the
company credit card (which I'm sure they've cancelled by now).
The dude did the deal on Friday via snail mail, then beat feat to Texas for this week and never said a peep....
I half expected that half of the partnership was capable of such, but I never saw my (former) friend (the
other half) leave me to the wolves like that.
                  Just evil stuff...

I'm pedaling as hard as I can in the meantime. I ain't proud, this might come down to first come, first
serve, regardless of what it is or how much it pays.

I had to make a resume too. Hell I didnt have exact dates and really think half of the electrical contractors are long gone. So its not like they can be contacted anyway. But I filled it out anyhow. The first company I sent it to took 2 weeks to get back to me. Only to say they have had a slow period of work and the office was understaffed.. So that tells me that is not the company for me. Feel like a duck some times.. Calm and cool above the water, under the water paddling like a mofo to keep the bills paid. Even thought about a temporary job in FL but that would require me to move into the mother inlaws house while I worked in Mexico Beach area of FL restoring power/electrical service to homes Or repairing obliterated homes. Whatever it takes to make the bills. But lucky for me it is coming around.

Ed,if you did nothing wrong, and they let you go, then I believe that you can still apply for unemployment benefits. They can contest you getting them, but unemployment will have the final say if you are eligible for benefits or not.

Even if you did something wrong you can apply for and get unemployment compensation. Ask me how I know......

Losing your job is unfortunate news for sure Ed. Just remember that life is a roller coaster ride filled with many ups and downs. I wouldn't be to hasty in selling your car - unless you don't enjoy it anymore. And I don't think that is the case. You seem like a kid at Christmas when you are talking about taking it out for a drive, or getting everything repaired up to your standards. Give it a little time and I believe some kind of new job opportunity will open up for you.

I agree, but if he did nothing wrong, he will definitely be eligible for benefits, and if they are saying that he did something wrong, unemployment could still rule in his favor and he could still get benefits! That's what we pay into the system for!
