Hey All,
Was thinking about replacing my slap-stik shifter with an aftermarket auto shifter mounted flush on the factory console. Prefer something with a boot ala 4 speed but doesn't have to be. Another option is fabricating a custom console and do the same. Car is a 72 Satellite. Whatcha got?? Pictures appreciated.
Thanks.

I wanted the same thing for my cuda but came up empty. Decided on a custom console, just waiting my turn in line in the interior shop.

I haven't started yet. But got all the parts for pistol grip slap stick and going to go with a custom console. Bought a new dash bezel and waiting on Dakota Digital gauges (they are building them i guess) so no spot for a radio. So plan on a custom console with the radio in the center under the dash. Here are a few links I found helpful.

Some Video ideas:

Overall Plan: Once i finish up and ready, plan on getting all the wood grain stuff hydro-dipped so the entire interior matches (steering wheel, bezel, door cards etc). Plan on some dark burl wood dark red/brown. Build the center console out of wood, wrap it with some foam and black vinyl, get the center hydro-dipped.

That's the plan anyway... :)

Hijinxx. That is exactly the kind of info I was looking for. Never thought of hydro-dip. Those consoles are spot on.
Thanks!!!!!!!

Well i thought of 3M vinyl wrap paper but it's just too thick to do the dash bezel and steering wheel. Hydro-dipping is much easier and as long as the pre-dip base coat is the same, it should all come out the same. I will confess though that i bought a small kit for dipping and i am terrible at it. So i found a company about an hour away that can do it all for 250.00, or that was the ballpark. In the link below are some dashes they've done to give you an idea of what it might look like, depending on the color you choose.

I don't do Facebook but I do know that there are people who hydro-dip for things like animal skulls for hunters. You may want to check around and see if you have anyone local. May save you some $$.
