Alternator question

anyone have any idea what the black wire connected to the dark blue wire going to field connection on the alternator is for? Its not in the 71 service manual.

I found out what’s it for carb solenoid for factory carb which I don’t have. One more question i might of already asked this does matter which way the field wires are hook to the alternator?

field wires can be hooked in either one, doesn't matter. As far both brushes are correctly isolated from alt case.
