Aluminium Thermostat housing?

quick question:

Is a aluminum thermostat housing correct for a 68 Charger RT w/o A/C?

It came with 26” radiator.

The number would be 2780970, right?

Not sure on the part# but 66 was the last year for cast iron housings

Do you know why they switched? Is it because aluminum is softer and adapts better?

Likely just basic manufacturing reasons. Cheaper, lighter.
