Everything being equal...which heads are the best HP increasing potential for the dollar...I see indy heads for over 2k and others for under 1k.

Anyone have any info...and porting/polishing is not a player as I would like info on right out of the box and bolt on....thanks in advance to all

one other thing....are all the heads (aluminum) a better performer than the stock 915/906 heads ?? or the others ?

Well, as far as a better performer of OOTB aluminum heads vs. oE iron heads, a lot will have to do with the cam being used. Also, how well the aluminum heads ports flow at low level lifts. If there real close in CFM flow, the the performance gain will be real low. For half the price of the new aluminum head you can have your iron rebuilt and prep'd to work better than the aluminum head in its OOTB condition.

stealth heads best bang for buck imo, they state (dont know how true it is) but there ootb flows better than a ported iron head and if you want to port the stealth heads they have een them go over 340cfm, my engine building cousin told me to stay away from edelbrocks as has seen too many failures lately.

then theres indy heads which i have heard are really really good but very expensive.

i went stealth for my 505 BB ported/polished with bigger valves and springs and i am getting around 650hp at the crank so there not too bad.

also ally heads drop about 50 lbs straight off your car, power to weight is king.

The best flowing head OOTB/$ is still the Edelbrock RPM. Up to .500" the RPM will out flow the OOTB Indy EZ head.

Lift.................RPM...................EZ

.100................74....................66
.200..............149..................127
.300..............211..................181
.400..............253..................232
.500..............280..................272

The Indy show substantial gains over the RPM at higher lifts.

.600..............292..................299
.700..............292..................313

These tests were performed on the same flowbench.

There is NO SUCH THING as an OOTB bolt on head. Some people have bolted them on with success and others have not. They should ALL be checked out before bolting them on.

All the aluminum heads will outperform a stock factory iron head.

Stealth heads.... I think bang for the buck is still the best. I have had each set I have owned looked over and had the 7 degree locks changed to 10 degree locks.
