I'm in the process of installing 71 grilles on my 73 charger, I like the way they look a whole lot better. The car currently has fiberglass bumpers and now I'm noticing they won't fit the grille brackets at all for whatever reason. So now my options are to either repaint or rechrome the 73 bumpers, or buy a new set of AMD bumpers, which I don't want to do unless they are worth the money. I'm nearing the end of my budget so that is a big factor here so I'm assuming having my old bumpers re painted will be the most cost/time effective however if the AMD bumpers are good enough quality that may be faster than having a body shop repair the old ones. if anyone has used these, i'd love to hear opinions; or opinions on suggested course of action

any idea what turnaround time for stuff like that usually is? The original bumpers were painted (f8) so I'm leaning towards that option for saving time but I do like the idea of chrome as well...man I'm so torn up about this haha

darn, 4-6 weeks is a bit of a wait...may paint them and go the chrome route over the winter when the car is stored...

I got AMD bumpers for mine in 2012. Fit like the originals, and look great. Might not be good enough for a concourse car, but just what I wanted for my daily.

yeah my car is nowhere near concourse.. will probably go the AMD route, as the prices on the trip city stuff's eBay account scared me a little.. I love my car but if I can save 300$ per bumper, I'm going to go that way first.

True OE concourse bumpers are not perfect......They were not perfect when they rolled out of the factory...The strict judging will ding ya if the chrome is too perfect....

When mine were plated. I had to specify with Paul's Chrome that I want a factory finish versus a show finish.......

I have also used Tri city many times for bumpers and they do a great job and as another mentioned carry a lifetime warranty.....Also, keep in mind the size of the bumper and any repairs increase the price......If they quoted 4-6 weeks, that is not bad at all for a vendor timeframe if they do meet that...

When it revolves around price then AMD is probably your best route.....but in the long run Tric City and the warranty is the better choice IMHO......

I believe there is a difference with the headlamp buckets 71/72 and 73/74 but I am not certain. I am sure someone can fill in the details. What year bumper brackets are you using?

I'm using my 73 brackets, die grinder them so the bumper would be more recessed though to eliminate the ugly gap and filler trim used in 73-4, the bumpers are fiberglass, can't remember where I got them anymore.. didn't much like the fit of them anyway to be honest. The grilles looked like they fit the headlamps fine (when I had some aluminum brackets make up just to mock up everything. I just came across a set of 71 brackets and was working on installing them correctly and noticed the fitment problem, almost as if the height of the bumper itself is short about 2 inches. Maybe I'm doing something wrong with the install, ill grab some pictures tomorrow to better show what I'm talking about. I figure the problem will best be solved by just switching back to a metal bumper..

I have AMD bumpers on my 69 GTX and think they have excellent chrome and fit like the originals. The only negative is the corners on mine were welded where they wrap around but the weld can only be seen on the backside. I suppose the originals were fully stamped.

Considering the cost involved in boxing and shipping the old ones out to a shop, the AMD can be found with cheap shipping (from Summit with an oversize charge only) and will cost you a few hundred less than re-chromed.

that was my thought exactly.. sounds like the cheaper option, and for a car that gets driven hard (when its not in pieces) show quality isn't necessary. Just need pretty, not over the top.

Not that I know of. Paid $695.00 plus shipping off ebay for my rear one, but it's really nice.
