So I had some more time to work on my 1976 Cordoba's rear shocks. So when I got the lower eyelet/bushing on the stud I see this:

My question is - Will the bushing compress enough once I get the retainer and bolt on, or do I need to trim back the bushing? Thank you.

I probably would cut it down, can you slip a socket over the stud and hit the sleeve and tap it in further?
You should have at least 5 full turns on the nut.

Get a proper concave shock mount washer and nut on there and get it tight enough this time, it'll be fine.
