I'm going to be doing away with the high dollar headlight switch and all the vacuum hoses associated with it that operate the headlight doors. My question is what would be the best solenoid vacuum switch to use, I want something that will be auto parts store available. I've been looking at 4X4 vacuum solenoids and EGR solenoid valve, with the 4X4 ones I'd have to run two (open & close), the EGR ones I've been looking at have three ports so maybe they would have the two functions meaning one would do it. Here's a few pics of a 4X4 valve and a EGR valve. Any ideas, suggestions? 4X4 vacuum solenoid.jpgegr valve.jpg

As well as your EGR idea, a lot of HVAC controls on various cars use vacuum to control the vents. A quick ebay check of 'ported vacuum switch' shows a couple thousand variations.

That's the big problem, if doing a search there are to many options. I was hoping someone one works on cars would know something more about them. I'll look into the HVAC.

you know they make aftermarket electric headlight door openers, for the gen 2 chargers.

just letting you know in case you didnt, you can even wire them into your headlight switch so when the lights turn on the doors open

No I did not, I'll definitely have to look into that. My guess is that it will be expensive. Thanks Benno

Cool, now I have something else to think about, I tested my vacuum diaphrams and they are good so I guess I'll waite and see how much vacuum my motor makes before I decide. Thanks
