Any tank nuts here? WW1, WW2 Korea, Vietnam?

This US M4 Sherman Tank was stranded on the reef during the invasion of the island of Saipan during WWII. Its turret is still frozen in time, taking aim at a Japanese gun emplacement on the beach.

There was one of those British conversions in the collection.

All but 2 of the tanks I saw are in working order, meaning connect the battery and turn the key, the collector's final piece before he died was the panther(panzer) V he had it completely restored to correct original specs even contacted one of the original vendors in Germany to help with the engine, at first they said no and felt embarrassed to help since it was a natzi contractor but after talking to them about money they said ok, had the original dies still in tact along with the blue prints.

            lol yeah that was cool.

I was checking out a tank from ww2 and looking closely at the new improved Sherman which had new suspension system and saw large Monroe shocks. Also checking out engines and saw in versions 1 shermans the Chrysler engines used pretty darn cool.

IIR Chrysler built mainly tanks / tank engines while some of the other auto manufacturers build planes, engines, etc. Don't recall all the details but the Chrysler corp was mainly into helping out with the tank production again if memory serves.

This is a great application of a Ford GAA Tank Engine. Crica 1942, 1100 cu. in., 4valves/cylinder, dual magnetos, overhead cam. Nice technology for the day. I'm sure some of y'all have seen this video, but its still pretty awsome...

                      Weasel

This is not a tank, but a tracked cargo carrier, my 1944 Studebaker M-29C "Weasel" , that I picked up a number of years ago. I use it for parades, Memorial Day services etc. It was built in South Bend, Indiana, by Studebaker for the US Army originally for winter operations in Norway but then things changed and they were used in Europe and the Pacific. It was shipped to Europe for use in 1944, then given to Norway after the war, then bought by a rancher in Colorado in the 80's. The sold to a dealer in Houston TX, where I bought it and trailed it back home to Indiana. My interest in WWII started when I was young, as my dad served in WWII, a Second Lieutenant , as a B-29 flight engineer.

Awesome pics, through the whole thread. I love the beach tank. When the ship John Morgan blew up off Virginia, it was carrying war supplies, more than one tank, they litter the bottom, really cool to see. I am a terrible photographer above or below the water, and usually dive with a crowbar, lol, but lots of pics on the net of the wreck.
