I just picked up my first B-Body last week and on my first ride on the highway I noticed A LOT of flex in the go-wing. Upon further inspection it is cracked. The crack is near the center of the wing on the bottom going front to back. I'm thinking some idiot either put something heavy on the wing or closed the trunk by pushing down on it. It appears to have been filled with body putty and painted over.(still can't believe I didn't see that). The top is still fine, no cracks or anything and I'd like to save it as I don't have a lot a spare chickens.

Have any of you repaired these before? Any suggestions?

I would say a good 2 part epoxy you can get from pretty much any Automotive or Hardware store, or honestly depending on how big the crack is I would bet "krazy glue" could do the trick. That stuff has a deathgrip that doesn't let go of just about anything.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the go-wing made of?
I was thinking the same thing, hopefully fiberglass as it is one of the easiest things to fix with lasting results.

These wings are made of an ABS based thermoplastic. Under the black, it should be light gray. They're quite strong, it takes some force to crack them.

That being said, I had a hole in the top of my wing when I bought the car, and someone had put a lump of bondo in it. I ground it down to a little lower than the original level and put a layer of fiberglass on it (both matting and woven roving), then regular body finishing. That was years ago and it's held up fine. I can't even see where the repair was.

I took some pics, hopefully I can post them this weekend. I'm thinking "Gorilla" brand 2 part epoxy.

The expoxy went on last night, I think I will mount it on the car and take it for a ride on the highway before final finishing to make sure it is strong enough. Any recommendations for the flat black paint? The crack is underneath, so it's not too noticeable.

Also I noticed I was missing a couple of screws and I'm thinking it might have allowed excess flexing. I was missing one on each side (there should be a total of 6). Any idea where I can get some? I'll try to post a pic later.

Well, sanded, painted the wing. looks good. re-attached, but still need a screw. I miscounted before, and I am missing one.

Here is what it looks like. Look familiar to anyone?

Cant tell the size from here but a door latch screw may work. Change them all if the head is different. Look for a trim paint that has self etching properties. Clean it with a plastic prep or soap and water. SEM products are awesome if not budget minded. Solvents may soften the plastic or bring contaminents to the surface so be careful. Red or gray skotchbrite to sand. Boss did his in Sikkens Rally Black and it looked good.
