Last night I started to reassemble my timing cover, gaskets, etc on a small block 360. This was included in the Felpro timing cover gasket kit. It’s made of some kind of wool. This wasn’t anywhere to be found as far as an old one when I disassembled everything. I have no clue ?

It goes on the harmonic balancer. It fits over the hub and into the dust shield...

Thank you, is this right ? Just sits in there dry ? Seems kind of worthless, not one on there when I took it off.

Oh, it keeps the timing cover seal from getting chewed up.
