I have been looking for some old Cal Custom finned valve covers for B/RB but they are typically pretty expensive. I found these and they are similar and half the typical cost. Has anyone purchased them? The square corners make me think the manufacturing details may not be that great. Appreciate any feedback! https://www.ebay.com/i/272568170016...MIy7zz_aaT6wIVXZ-nCh2wGg25EAEYASADEgIV-vD_BwE
Those look identical to the one's at Mancini's, they'll most likely need to be surfaced for flatness. https://www.manciniracing.com/mafibivaco1.html I recently bought a set of their plain fabbed aluminum covers and the flanges were pretty warped, but nothing a few swipes on the surfacer couldn't straighten up. No tiny pinhole leaks at the welds, and they have baffles, so far so good.
I have this set if interested. They are in good used shape need polishing though. No dents or damage.
Mancini lists welded plate aluminum as "billet"?! They do appear to be the same ones I saw on eBay. What's the point in selling something that needs to be fixed (surfaced)? Very disappointing, but I'm not surprised. You have to be so careful as a consumer anymore. I suppose I'll just have to break open the piggy bank and go for the vintage cast Cal Customs. Thanks for the feedback.
