I'm sure the mark up was a nice payday. My dad had one that was welded to the workbench, and it was indestructible.

Good tools aren't and never have been cheap but I'll agree the price of everything is getting outrageous.

I'm envious of some of the 30 years or older vices I see in manufacturing plants.
The one I have came out of a factory in Ohio that shut down as a matter of fact.
Paid like $75 for it on eBay some years ago.
It's a medium sized one. I'd like a bigger one someday, but no way in hell I'm
paying a grand for one - another really old one works for me.
