Pretty cool idea, but as the article says, it's best at dusk; it won't last all night. Reflectors imbedded in the road is also a good idea.

sad that it took this long to think about that. I remember my AFX set had glow in the dark tracks.
 
What a dumbass headline for the article though.
Less than one mile has been done as a trial. Hardly "Australia has them and the US doesn't"
 
Most of our roads in FL have high reflectivity texture paint on the lines.

...and the center lines have those plastic reflector housings which IMO get replaced WAY too frequently.
