I have a Carter AVS carb stamped M7 4429S
What is the CFM rating for these?
Some I see rated at 650 others at 750.

Depends on bore size driven by application. The larger of the performance carbs is rated at about 750, the smaller at 625 to 630. Your stamped number is for a ‘68 440 A/T, which would have been a 750 cfm unit. I think only 440’s got the larger carb, but not sure of that.

I have this same carb on my pretty much stock 440 ‘cuda. It’s made two runs down the track and it’s best run was a 12.64 and I am very happy with it.

The AVS came in two sizes. According to the old Carter tech line there is the small “630 cfm” & the larger “750 cfm” sizes.

440’s should have the larger unit. But I cannot say it is written in stone. In the past, 440’s have been known to come with 600 AFB carbs. The smaller 630 carb cams on 340’s and 383’s.

Thanks for the info guys.
I do not plan to change the carb as the car/engine is stock and the engine runs nice with that Carter on it.
