Axle housing gauge or narrowing.

I want to check the axle housing for true in my Charger. I was going to use 1 1/4 solid shaft and machine a set of pucks out of aluminum. Anyone done something similar? Figured I could use it down the road if I narrow a housing. Any suggestions appreciated.

Measure between straight edges on each flange. The longer the better.

My bar is 1 3/4" diameter and is 17-4PH shaft material and checked on a straightener. The bearing pucks are steel, aluminum and stainless for 8 3/4 and Dana 60.
