68 satellite!!! YEA me! its about time!

Thanks guys! I was headed toward a Dart and 1 Charger but the Charger needed a deck lid and I looked and looked....nothing on 67 or 66.

So about me...hmmm old guy reliving his youth since 1973 (at least that's what everybody says when you buy a classic). Fact is I've always owned a classic of some type except the motorcycle years. I've owned a lot of Mustangs...just finished a 71 Mach I sold it with money burning a hole in my pocket for my first Mopar! :headbang:

Looks like a great foundation for a project.

Great car - I just responded to your welcome wagon post too.

So the question "Who are best quality part sites" is really broad. Unfortunately, I have found that there are many crappy reproduction parts and quite a few good ones too. I can't offer one universal "good parts" place, but here are a few of my thoughts to get us started:
Seat covers and interior panels: Legendary interior is the absolute number one, and I think for good reason. If you really want good fitting, proper seat covers, they are the place to go to.
Carpet? Honestly not sure - there seem to be many places that sell these. I think Legendary has these too, so maybe you can work out a package price.

For lots of small parts, I have been going to Classic Industries lately. They have some crap too, but most of the general vendors do as well. I don't want to spend your money, but I am a big proponent of replacing the wiring harnesses on these cars. The copper is fine, but the insulation was never intended to last 50 years. Save yourself major hassles (and maybe avoid a fire too) by replacing them. The absolute best are M&H wiring, sold (I believe) exclusively by Year One. Wait for a 30% off sale and snatch the them.

For weather stripping, Metro makes the best stuff, in my opinion.

I am sure others will chime in, but there are a few suggestions to get you started. Now get to work!!!! (smile)

Thank you hsorman! I looked at classic for the upholstery I'll go back to Legendary instead. The car has the buckets with the buddy seat so I want it to be right!

Hey guys here's an update. Wife and I drove to Dallas yesterday. Picked the car up and returned home about 5. Couple of neighbors came over and we scrubbed 30 years of dirt.

Inspecting it on Tuesday and picking it up yesterday it would start but idled rough and took her a couple of minutes to smooth out. Old guy WARNED me not to give it any gas. It has started each time.....but labored heavily. Last nigh accidently got a little water in the carb. Couldn't get her to start. Called it a night. this morning curiosity got the best of me. Got in it....she cranked right up...again stumbling quite a bit then smoothed out. Got a can of B12 got some rpm's up and did the traditional cleaning. Acceleration changed immediately to responsive. I shut it off to test the starting.....I CANT WAIT to do a quick video.... you cant imagine a 47 year old car with everything original running so well. I hit the key and its like it doesn't turn over a 1/4 turn before she's running smooth as silk.

Great news! One of the most important things you can do as far as getting her running well is be sure you have clean, fresh gas from a clean gas tank.

My car had sat for many years and the tank had fine "silt" in it, probably tiny particles of rust. I figured double filters would protect my fuel pump and carb. WRONG. Somehow the silt made its way through both filters and clogged up my carb. So be sure you have fresh gas!!!

Hooray! Looks great. Welcome back.

thanks hsorman. You are correct....absolutely. I restored a 65 Malibu SS....the silt would fill the bowl in no time after a few runs she was back to popping missing etc. replaced the tank to save on the hassle and problem solved.

Is that a black and gold interior?

Congrats on a cool find, looks like you've got a super solid starting point.

yessir .... gold black trim. Bucket seats not splt bench with the buddy seat. I was out admiring her tonight ....all the lights work except the side fish eyes and the right turn signal bulb in front I think. EVEN the map light works!!!

747 ...thank you sir!! I've looked at scrap 67 -8-9-70 ANYTHING for a long time. Saw a few things I had come to grips with giving up a lot of money for to get SOMETHING and never pulled the trigger. This deal popped up ....the whole deal took roughly 30 minutes start to finish with the exception of the final inspection on Tuesday and pick up on Saturday. I cant explain how nice this car actually is!!! I cant believe how blessed I am to have it!!!!!
