You fit a 315 in the factory well?

If you want anything resembling hook, you need a DOT drag tire. I’ve been running ET streets for a few years now (295/65R15 which are about 30x12.5x15). My 451 can boil them but if I’m careful off the line, they’ll hook pretty good.

Then again, some of you guys are making too much power to ever hope to hook on the street.

Nitto 555R drag radial.
275/60/15
Both me and my buddy run them. Me on my 68 b body and he on both his 68 A body and his 700hp 1970 E body.
They are the best he has found for hooking on the street. We run them at 18-19 psi and they perform well. I have also increased tire pressure to 28 psi for road trips and with the extra air stiffening the side wall you would be suprised how well they do.

I had the Nittos 325-50-15 555r & they would spin very easy on my Charger, went to the MT ET street R Radial, AWESOME tire, 325-50-15

Ya I’m not sold on nittos either, I had a set on my SRT Charger and it would spin the tires like crazy. Put a set of kumho all season tires on and they hook up way better

I know of a grudge / street car that has been .096 60 ft & 4.02 in the 1/8 (not a typo) knocking on the door of 200 MPH on a 275-60-15 M/T Radial Pro. They can work when the suspension is dialed in.

Crazy what them guys are running in the 275 class.

Sometimes a prepped track, local No E.T. events.

275 ET Street Pro, Cal-Tracs and split monos.

If I'm racing on a street type surface, I leave in 2nd (manual valvebody) and put 100 lbs. in the trunk as close to the rear bumper as possible.

This is after lots of experimentation.

They put down pimp juice, devils glue and other concoctions. The guy in the Camaro did! I do a short burnout to warm the tires and good to go! No bullshit under the tire..

I ran Nitto 555 drag radials and then a little rain at 60 and I was off the highway in the grass in my 89 Conquest TSi.
I have been running 315/35/17 Toyo Proxes TQ drag radials for 2 years now and they are really good and no slipping/sliding in the occasional rain (YRMV). I like them so much I got a pair for my wife's GTO.
The 315/35/17s fit my 70 Roadrunner with a 100% stock suspension. Year One aluminum Rallye wheels 8" x 17 front w 4.5" backspacing, 9" x 17" rear w 5" backspacing.

Yeah it’s crazy what those guys can do. Little different than a big body mopar / leaf springs / unprepped surface. But still impressive as hell.

With the ET streets, I’m white knuckling the Belvedere home whenever a couple of raindrops hit the ground.

Never had a problem, but sure ain’t testing fate.
