Gonna sell in about 2 hours. Who's watching?
Didn’t they estimate 3-4 mil?
I would prefer the Charger R/T camera car myself.
Which one is that exactly? I haven’t looked at the mecum line up
That car was sold a few years ago at one of the auctions. It is supposedly the surviving Charger from the Bullitt movie. The other Charger was the car that they blew up. Supposedly, the second Mustang was also found in a Mexican junkyard, and is being restored.
I’ve been watching Mecum and mopar values are high. Some aren’t selling but imho I think the reserves were a bit greedy if they didn’t sell
Read about it in a recent car magazine. Great story how they held onto it, even when McQueen offered to buy it. They even kept the letter he sent offering to purchase it.
5 years ago Dana Mecum said "the Mopar thing was over ",but I am sure that he is still collecting his premium on them though!
Its At 3.4 Mill Now
Sold 3 Million 400 Thousand US Bones...
That is Hemi Cuda convertible money! I'll take the Cuda!
Oh yeah, me too!
The stunt Mustang was pulled from a wrecking yard in Mexicali, MX...about 40 miles from here.
Far more of the Ford (Mustangs) & Chevy (Camaro, Chevelle) crowd spending $$$ 1st class collector MoPar prices, were a bargain in comparison still not the respect, they should get, tit for tat a few nice cars
1968 Ford Mustang GT - $10,000.00 Steve McQueen s ASS In That Car - $3,390,000.00
I have to admit, that is retarded money for a used up rustang
That and the patina.
Pretty good return on a $3500. investment from 1974. We saw it at MCACN in it's glass case. I talked to the owner - nice guy. Pretty cool story, in my book. So now we know what it sold for. The next questions are who bought it and what will they do with it? I also wonder if Mecum discounts or waves it's seller fees for the high profile cars like Bullitt and Tim Wellborn's cars for generating so much marketing value for their auction.
Stupid money but that is what the rich do I guess. I have met my share of so called famous people( Ron Howard , Loretta Lynn , Waylon Jennings etc.). Never meant squat to me. I thought most were arrogant. Nicest famous person I met was Ricky Skaggs just a good ole country boy. And the provenance as they call it .... big deal IMO. I wouldn't give that kind of money for any car. It is just a beat up ole stang. lol But most people see it differently and that ok too.
