Cam Selection

Seems like a lot of intake exhaust duration split. Especially for headers.
If you don't mind me asking, what negative effect do the headers have on the listed exhaust duration? I figured the headers would help in that regard. Thanks for your input.
 
Well I'll say this, Im running a 292 242@.050 495 lift on a 108 lsa. In my 440. Its not too rough of a idle. Has good street manners.
That's good to hear. The numbers are not too different on these two sticks.

In what regard? What do you think it needs that would be different without messing with the numbers matching block (i.e. stroking it)? Thanks

Seems like that cam might be designed for exhaust manifolds. With that much split I would worry about sucking some of the intake charge out the exhaust.
 
So I got a bit confused on who was saying what.

If the OP previous cam was Bob K’s cam, this cam will have a much more lopey idle. Maybe more than the converter will like. Once you’re rolling along it will be okay.
That's where I was gonna go.
2200 stall? A 3200 converter will wake it up way more than a cam swap.
And I seriously doubt I'd spend roller money for such a mild cam.
 
These days Cam is probably the last selection. Comp Cams can custom grind a Cam to your setup and application/vision for not much more. I found they were only slightly off what my research and expectations. My last was a little more duration and surprised of a .005 inch less lift. (.590 to .585) That is what their formula suggested.

This seems very small for a roller cam.

I wanna little more oomph for my 69 GTX 440 too; 727, Dana 60 4.1

Howards hydraulic designed for 904 lifters, Trick Flow 240 to replace the 906, it has a Holley Street Dominator intake w/i Super Comp headers, it's a mild MoPar cam.

I'm still researching, something like this, a little cam for the street, added HP/TQ is in the heads.

You don't increase LSA to get a smooth idle. You reduce duration. A Crane RV cam has a rpm limit of about 4500 rpm & smooth idle. It has a 104 LSA.

The cam listed is a comp thumper cam. I doubt it would beat the MR six pack cam that it had, much less low end torque, a little more HP but not enough to recover the low end torque. It idles rough for nostalgia purposes and still makes decent torque though for as rough as the idle is. I think the thumpers work best in applications that have short rods and a long stroke.
