By way of introduction, and to make ya'll aware of where I'm coming from.... I'm Mike and live in South Western NC. I'm into this motor (4406bbl) due to worn cam lobes, and metallic fragments showing up in various places in the bottom end. I had used a Mr. Sixpack cam back then, and it served me well. I think modern oils and infrequent driving had a lot to do with the problem. I thought while I was in there, I would make it a little more fun for the family, cruises, shows, farting around town, etc. My builder recommended this Comp Retrofit Roller Cam. I initially restored this 28,000 mile completely matching numbers Rallye Green A12 back in 1999-2000. I owned a body shop back then and restored it 100% correctly and won all the original type shows in which I entered it (AACA Senior First Place. etc.). I originally had seen it in a magazine add and bought it from a gentleman in Greeley Colorado (smoking, but running). He name was Greg Button. As it sits today, it has 33,000 miles on the odometer. I'm 70 years old and am looking to have a little fun with it before I can't. It will eventually be an heirloom for my two sons. I'm not disturbing anything that can't be easily put back and/or corrected. This is the second A12 I've owned. I bought the first Vitamin C car in 75 with 15,000 on it, off the lot of Tedder Motor Company (Dodge, Plymouth Chrysler, Jeep Dealership in Shelby NC). The former owner had been drafted (Vietnam) and he left the "no power steering beast" for his mother to drive. She couldn't wheel it and eventually traded it in at the dealership. I paid $2,250.00 for that one and drove it all through high school and the dating scene, and after getting married in 79 (with changing priorities) I sold it in the mid-80 for $8500.00, and was sick for years (until the green car came along) So.... in short, that is where I'm coming from (a little history) and what I'm looking to accomplish. Thanks for any advice or info about this cam selection.
