Happy New Year everyone!
I am rebuilding the 440 from my 73 Roadrunner and have used Comp Cams XE274H-10 cam and Edelbrock 5090 heads. I was wondering if I can use the stock rockers/push rods with this setup or do I have to use roller rockers?
The car will be strictly used for street.

Thanks, I was going through a few other post that look like the same information. The cam is .488/.491 so I should be fine with stock rockers.

I’ve used them on Eddys. Years ago. Both engines still in service.

Stock rockers should work. I would bet you might need custom length pushrods to get lifter preload right.

I would at least go with the heavy duty MP rockers if you can still get them....

You might wanna check out the thread involving melling stock rockers on the A side. "Oem rockers side play" . It's in the small block forum but shows some scary bad fit from new melling rockers.

Thanks, I will have a look.

Read through the thread, and it was some good information. The one big difference I see from the small block to the big block is that the big block has a spacer between the rockers. I haven't checked to see what the clearance is on mine.

Can you still purchase stock-style rockers from the aftermarket?

Let me rephrase..what aftermarket stamped rocker is worth buying?

Are you going to use stock exhaust
manifold or headers I have a set of
5090 heads and hope to stay w/manifold
that’s stock 440

I am going to stick with manifolds, at least for now.

I had where a pain. Thanks for

good. just want a bit more horses
under the hood. No plans on racing it
I’m thinking of going w/Howard’s
Rattler cam

Damn Good question - I don’t know if I would buy anything today

Made in the USA (Sealed Power) is what I purchased about five years ago
Still running them today on my Edelbrock E Street Heads 75cc
Comp XE275 HL Camshaft

Have a couple of sets of factory stamped steel rockers are they worth anything.
Cam changes years ago went with the HD ones.
