Can someone help me decode this? It's from our 66 Charger we started "restifying." Just wanted to know "what we got" here. So I can "document" it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What I know-

X: Charger
P: Premium.
29: 2 door sports coupe/ fastback
WW1: White paint
charger fender tag.jpg

vehicle number.jpg

383 2bbl automatic, red interior. AM radio.

G is for 383, not sure if they distinguish between 2 or 4 v on that. It’s the numbers under the A and B on the fender tag that will determine if it’s a 2 or 4 v. Under the c is the trans. The fifth digit in the vin is usually the engine code for Mopars as far as I know. On my 66 cuda formula S was a D which was for 273 cu. BP29D62500159 was the vin. The 6 after D was for the 66 year.

Fender tag
abcdefgh......
625

= 383 4 barrel automatic

I think its either, meaning the "G", but 383 for sure.

Mostly right. If it were 2 bbl it would be 61 engine code, 5 is automatic

383-2 not available in 66 Charger. Would be a 361-2.

66 VINs are a little different. G code only tells you 383 not which 383. That’s determined by application.. so in a 66 B body, G tells you 383-4.

62 on the tag = 383-4.
