Had my cluster rebuilt by Auto Instruments it came back with out the capacitor that runs to the hot side of
voltage limiter. When I asked them why it was omitted they say that it is not needed with a electronic
voltage limiter, its only function is to eliminate radio noise when used with a standard limiter !
Hoping someone can verify this before i install in car.
working on a 69 Coronet rally dash
Thank You dcmason69

For what its worth most cars that came from the factory without a radio did not have them. Back in the day when we installed a factory radio there was a sub-package that had all the capacitors/noise suppressors for the coil alternator and voltage limiter.

Correct, no capacitor needed if you are converted to a solid state gauge regulator The capacitor(s) help suppress the arcing that comes from the electrical contacts ( points) opening under a load and helps clean up the cars 12 volt wiring. The mechanical gauge regulator, mechanical voltage regulator and points / coil of the distributor-ignition system all had capacitors for this purpose. Without them you would experience interference on the installed AM radio.

Thank You for your replies:
All the info is appreciated, learned something new today and interesting
Thank all who responded.
My plan is to use a Holly sniper with Hyper spark along with a single wire
90 amp alternator. Installing vintage A/C, Also had my factory radio redone by Gary Tayman for AM/FM
so does anyone see issues with radio interference by doing any of these upgrades?
I believe all of the relays that I will be useing will have diodes in them including the ones i will be using for the Headlamp system.
Any comments or concerns welcome.
