727 auto drives in all gears tried to adjust control cable with no luck also no upshift rpm at 500 rpm what am I doing wrong ?.

Moves forward no matter where the shifter is placed?

There are a few possibilities... First have a look at the fluid & while your at it smell the fluid...

If it's dark & smells burnt most likely a clutch pack is cooked & the discs & plates have welded themselves together...

If it's red & smells fresh an adjustment is possible but if it was driving before thats unlikely. I would suspect a valve in the valve body has gotten stuck....

What's the history? Fresh build or veteran? Did this problem just start?

I suspect the cable is not locked into receiver or the receiver has detached from the rooster comb.

We have no idea what you're working on except for the fact you posted in the "1962 - 1965" forum. You haven't even hit the "Welcome Wagon".

I'm guessing you have a '64? Push button? Console shift? Aftermarket shifter?

Sounds like the clutches are welded together in the rear clutch pack. Ron

Guess we will never know....
