ok I kinda feel like a dope! I degreased my engine bay 3 days ago, I thought I covered everything enough but I must have gotten something wet. It started just fine that night when I finished but 3 days later....no go. It cranks real good, but will not fire. I tried the usual stuff, checked the distributor for moisture....nothing, I replaced the ballast resistor, the voltage regulator and the ignition coil because those things are exposed and were most likely to have gotten wet. It still won't fire.

As I was swapping those parts out, I noticed that the gel in the EGR Time Delay Module (pictured) was running down the fire wall. I took it off and, yup, the gel melted out of it. It must hacve got so hot that it melted the gel! My question is, would this part prevent it from starting?

Throw the transistor box in the garbage along with the ballast resistor and switch to a HEI setup. Its inexpensive and you will be very happy.

It might if it has/had a short to ground. You didn't say what ignition you have?
Looks like a solid state voltage regulator, so I'm guessing it the Chrysler electronic ignition.
You may need a new amplifier/control box it had the pentagon looking plug on the front.
To test spark you can pull of the coil wire out from the distributor hold it about a 1/4" away from a grounded bolt and crank (just a little bit) should be a crisp blue/white spark. It could also be a bad connection on the firewall bulkhead connector. You can unplug these, clean and inspect, make sure all the male spade pins are at the same protusion depth.

yes, it's the chrysler electronic ignition, I replaced the voltage regulator and the coil. One of the first things I did was check for spark from the coil wire, no spark. I checked all of my local part stores and nobody had the part pictured above. I was able to find a couple online but wanted to check with my friends here at FBBO to see if anyone knew if it could possibly be the issue

I would try leaving it unplugged, check your fuses and try it. Make sure you have voltage at the ballast resistor.
