I am trying to do this cheap LOL I am tapped out at this point still trying to finish the resto at the same time would like to see paint in the fall

You're going to get a bazillion opinions on this one. Been there, done that.
My 2 cents:
If you're going to do the Edelbrock Thunder AVS (no reason why you shouldn't), definitely go with at least the 750cfm. They're really easy to tune and the tech support is great, both in the instructions and from Edelbrock themselves.
Disclaimer:
I have an AVS 650cfm on my 440 right now, all jetted up to 750 specs. My cam is a bit tamer than yours and I'm running a factory 4bbl intake, but I'm running Hedmans and 3" duals all the way back, also.

Thanks for the info I was thinking about using 68-69 stock hp avs and tweek it

Based on previous experience I will recommend an 850 Holley.

The Eddy Thunder AVS is damn near identical to the original Carter AVS.
Nicely made, too. I'd say it'll be hard to find an original in as good a shape as a new Eddy.
