have a 383 hp engine in good condition had to replace carb &dist with 550 cfm carb &single points dist probabbly have original coil normally drive in 25 to70 mph range and does good so would an upgrade be more noticable on low end accelaration or high end performance and what would you suggest

Sounds to me like you should use the money for something else!!! If no problems, why change?? It's been a long time, but I'd probably go with Mopar pointless ignition, if you really want to change. I have an old Accel pointless that I hope still works when I try to fire it up this coming spring.

550 cfm is a bit small for a 383.single point is pure stock performance at best.that set up will get you good millage, but not much else.depends on what all the rest of your set up is?headders are great power per buck upgrade, but like i said, what is your whole set up?

For ingnitions, I am always a fan of the Mopar perfromance electronic ignitions. If you are on a budget, go to alocal parts store and get the distributor for low cost. You can then find the harness and orange box low cost at Summit, Jegs, Ebay, for low cost and your done. Stable, clean and easy

Just shooting from the hip here. The old AVS's are great carbs in my opinion, if you have one or can find one, the best route on the carbs, low cost, easy to take care of, etc...........
