Ok after having a power loss problem with my NOS Carter BBD for the 318 it was determined to be the accelerator pump. I replaced it with a United Carburator leather type. I also changed all the gaskets idle mixture screws and a new set of Carter long style jets. I cleaned all the parts and took a wire and ran it through al, the tubes and holes to help clean of the ethanol residue. The now runs great, idles good and has quick response on the gas right from the start, mid range power is restored. Before this acc pump I installed a Mike's Carburator part, it was exactly like the one I removed the first time. It made the car hesitate. Just from two different style materials made all the difference . You would not know from looking at them.
The (Carburator Shops) Acc pump did not work well either. I actually ordered a spare From United so I will have one extra if it does deteriorate with the ethanol for some reason and or because I don't drive the car much during the winter time, its a quick change right on the engine with having to remove the carb. I do expect it to last for several years. I do want to add that about every week during the storage of the car I get in and just crank the engine to fill the carb bowl that way the pump will stay wet. And about every two weeks I start and run the thing for at least 20 min.
This and my FBO ignition has made this engine run the best since the ethanol was put in the gas.
