What carb's do you guys suggest with a 70 383? Assume it is a stock build at this point and just want to get something on it to run it. I was a little eager and bought a carb that did not mount to my intake. Intake is 2951666-1.

Thanks in advance.

I got an eddy 750 and it works great.

The Eddy can be a good one. I have used Holley's because that is why my car came with (but smaller than 750). Vacuum secondary first and recently mechanical secondary. The key for me is having it responsive so not putting one too big on. This can sacrifice top end HP, but can be much more fun to drive. What gears do you have and what type of transmission? This can also be a consideration.

Thanks it is a 727, Need to check the rear end for gearing.

I'm running a newer Holley 750 vacuum secondary in place of the factory 600 CFM Holley on a a stock 383/TF/3.23 70 Road Runner and it runs great, makes good power and gets half decent mileage as well.
I did have to relocate the coil with a 6-pack style bracket and make up some new fuel lines due to the dual fuel inlets on the opposite side but it looks all original once it's done.

Pretty mild 383 in my 67, auto trans and 3:23 gear, I run a 600 eddy and love it. no bog or dead spots.
I have had 750s on it but they seemed a little rich but also I am no pro at carb tune. LOL

I have a few more thoughts. It sounds like you want something to get it running, and I am assuming that is not too much hassle. The 750 vacuum secondary 4150 style Holley, quick fuel, proform, etc... is a reasonable option, so it seems would the 750 e-brock. I would go with an electric choke. I don't know about the edelbrock, but with the 4150 series, I think you will need a throttle adapter (pn 20-7) to have it open 100% at WOT.

If it were me, I would probably go with a 650 mechanical secondary 4150 - type. I was looking around and curious about a proform version with downleg boosters or the QF HR series. I am presently sold a little on slightly smaller carbs because I overcarbed my engine and the faster transition of the smaller carburetor made a difference for low-mid RPM responsiveness. If I were thinking about tinkering with the engine later, I would consider upping it to a 750, but mechanical secondary.

In all cases, I would anticipate some changing of jets, accelerator pump cams, and possibly the squirters could be needed. I put a Holley Street avenger 670 VS on my 383 and it was very lean out of the box. I know there are some who set them up and I hear they can be pretty close, but I don't know the cost.

Thanks everyone. I am going to go after a Holley for now. I am certain the car will evolve but wanting to at least accumulate missing parts and get it running.
