What is the correct carb for a 1971 RR 440 4speed? 4968? (AVS). POPS

I agree. I don't believe you could get a 440 4 speed in 71 according to the charts I've seen.
Only 440 A/T which would be an AVS 4966. There is usually not much difference (I'm told).
Now if you go back 1 year, a 440 with M/T was available and it was 4737 AVS (4739 Calif w/ECS)
If it's not the original engine I would find what year you have and use that as a guide. If it IS the original, your build sheet will have the carb # on it.

You could get a "U" code 440 in '71, manual and autos, only in a GTX for Plymouth however.

FYI, the 4966 was only installed in low performance 440’s. The primaries and secondaries for the high performance 440 carbs are all the same size.

That’s why no 440 4 speed 71 carbs on the charts. Thanks POPS
