Carburetor screw hitting intake

Hello. Just tried installing my rebuilt Holley 4160 on my edelbrock performer rpm intake and there is a screw hitting. Anyone ran into this before? I was thinking a spacer or thick gasket but found out my air cleaner is hitting my six pack hood, so I don't have room to space it up higher. Is the hood touching the air cleaner that big of a deal? The hood is fiberglass so I can picture it wearing a hole through it. Any thoughts are appreciated

Since you can't space it up, I would look at the possibility of grinding out the outer edge, assuming you have enough space, to allow the screw to countersink into the manifold. Take some putty, paint, or even mustard, on the end of the screw, and put the carb on the manifold and then remove it. This should give you the spot where it is hitting and you can see if you have enough space to do the countersink or not. Good luck!

X2, I noticed the accelerator pump screw hit gasket. However the previous owner had notched the intake a little & I used a different gasket that cleared the screw. A thick gasket would cure this conflict. Never have noticed this before though. BTW maybe you could use a shorter air cleaner element too.

I got my Dremel out today and notched it out. Worked out great. Thanks for the feedback
