Since it's a Friday night I thought I start posting my project here as well. It was a 69 Coronet 500 that I bought as a pro streeter which turned out to be a piece of rusted out sht and so as I started to work on the car one thing led to another and has led me into new territory. Here is a pic of what it looked like when I bought it. This car was a total hack job and my heart just sank as I got further into it.

I started to do some mock up work and realized that this thing needed to be blasted.

Once I was done blasting I could get on to some rust repair and lots of fabricating.

Wow! Keep posting pictures of progress. I like the blast booth. Did it work well?

When I got the car it was already micky mouse back halved so I had to fab up my own frame rails and redo everything. The front frame rails were also rotted out so I ended up doing a complete tube chassis frame with a 14 point cage.

I opened everything up for rust removal and took out the fire wall because it was swiss cheese.

I got a motor plate from a new friend and used it for a pattern to make a new one. the one on the right I used as a pattern and the one on the left I made and has since been cut with angles on the top. The one on the right is smaller and is made of 1/4" thick material, mine I made bigger and out of 3/8" thick material.

I have a Dana 60 and ladder bar with QA1 coil over suspension going in and I had to make all the brackets front and back because I was not going to pay $60 for the front brackets, $60 for the shock mount brackets. The front were not going to work anyway so custom we went. The ladder bars came with brackets but were not 3/16" as stated on the box so custom we went and the upper and lower shock mount brackets well......custom we went.

holy crap! did you keep ANY of the original car? i thought mine was rusty. good work.

That old rear chassis section looked like a nightmare, unfortunately for you the rest of the car seemed to follow suit.
Nice work on the rebuild though.....keep the updates and pics comming.

The fenders were complete **** so I had started doing a frankenstein repair on the passenger side using two complete different fenders. I used the front of another 69 and the back of a 68 and fused them together. The reason for this is because trying to find good fenders is next to impossible and I had been looking a long time. I since have found a good passenger side fender and just recently acquired a driver side fender in awesome shape. I will probably keep the good passenger side fender for my 69 Super bee that is line for a resto.

My intention was not to have to do this much work on the car or spend a lot of money on it. I was originally doing the 66 mustang coupe I got for my wife then I was going to do the Super bee. A few pics.
