0112200920.jpg 0112200921.jpg We had that Storm Front blow through Sunday morning, and dropped this tree on my Mom's house. I was out today looking at saws, Stihls, Husqv's, and Echos. Seemed like the Echos were the best deals, have good reviews, and USA made. I was looking at 50-60cc models, 18-20" bars. Any comments, or personal feedback appreciated, Thanks...

I have had a old 452 Echo for 20 plus years, used it often. Can not say a bad thing about it.
I always clean it when done, keep the filter clean and brush away the saw dust on top before fueling or adding oil.
    JMHO darn good saw.

I use Echo equipment for my business. All of my blowers, Hedge trimmers, weed eaters, Pole saw & hedger and my chainsaw are Echo. Great products that work every time I need them. Buying a new Echo Chainsaw 620P with a 24 inch bar here shortly as I have been getting into larger trees where my saw is to small and have to cut from either side to get through it..

I've got a Stihl "Farm Boss" chainsaw. Dang thing can sit for a year and still fire up easily.
That said, the chain oiling system design leaves a lot to be desired. Very fussy.
Husqvarna is the superior chainsaw in that regard.
Echo ain't bad either for the price.

NOTE: Not all chainsaws are built alike, even when wearing the same brands!
All the major manufacturers make saws for the major outlets (Home Depot, etc.) that
have been "economized" to hit price points.
Get your new saw from a reputable dealer so you get the real deal one, whatever the brand.

We have a Husqvarna 460..20" bar w/3.75 HP.. about all I can handle at 57 + years old! It is about 6-7 yrs old, always starts on the first or second pull. It will accept a larger bar. We bought from a dealer, and not a farm store. We have always used huskys 2 cycle mix for the gas, and have always used Shell super premium for gas! Like said above cleanliness goes along ways in the longevity of the saws life! Good luck with whatever you decide. Dodge33

Like Dodge33 said about fuel, get the best you can and never run a alky 90/10 blend in your saw.

                    I own 2 husqvarnas. A trim
Saw and a medium size one.
I bought them at the local farm and fleet that is a top line husky dealer. As has already been said, don’t buy them at Home Depot. They are not the same quality.
Both are great saws. I use them a few times per year and they fire right up every time. I do take care of them.

That said, I kinda wish I would have bucked up for the Stihl. IMO, they are a better saw with much better support.
I was being frugal when I opted for the husky.

I thought the Dock Builders used Stihl's. Those saws see a lot of hard hard use.

THIS!!! Always use "straight" gas in these small engines. Alky eats their carb and fuel system parts!

Stihl's are expensive but worth it in many cases, and will hold resale value better than any thing else, if you are the kind of guy that might want to dump it after the job is done. If you want a Husky, dont look at any of the ones you get at Lowes, TSC, etc. Go to a pro Husky dealer like a landscape supply or mower supply place. I've got a pro Husky saw (565) that sounds more bad-ass than any two stroke motorcycle I ever had (and that's saying sumpin lol). Nothing bogs that saw down, and it will easily accept and run a 8" longer chain and bar than it was supplied with.

I’ve always had Stihl saws, never had any problems. Any of those brands are probably as good as any of the others, buy from a reputable dealer, whichever is close to home. Keep away from ethanol mixed gasoline and cheap aftermarket chains. Good luck.

Stihls are good. I have Husqvarna 55 Rancher. Thing is probably 15 years old. Starts right up and cuts great.

Many good saws out there. My 2 cents...As stated though buy from a chainsaw dealer. Big box stores do get the economy versions. For example, carburetors are cheaper and different..

                              Good luck

I have 2 Stihl's, MS 271 and an MS 660. Great saws. If you are only going to use a saw for around the house occassionally I would recommend the 290 Farm Boss or the 271. Both are good and can pull an 18" chain.

Get a Stihl. Run their fuel in them and you never have to worry about repairs, it leaves a green coating inside the engine, they know if you have been using it or not.
                                    Repairs are covered.
                                    They'll love you long time.
