i have a 69 superbee 440 sixpack
headers, may go to manifolds but its 2026 I'm wanting feedback.
I want good mufflers 2.5 and alot has changed over years
don't mind noise just good performance
thanks

Any straight through muffler generally gives the best performance. Dynomax Ultraflow ,magnaflow ,Borla ,Pypes Race Pro or whomever you like. The longer the case the less obnoxious inside the car usually.

I'm about ready to do the same thing, I got an AAR cuda with a 340 six barrell thats beefed up quite a bit. The stock exhaust set up is pretty restrictive on those, also goes in and out on the same side of the muffler. I've come up with starting with headers and a 3" collector, I am going to reduce it somewhere down the line I have a 10" section of 2.5" and 3" pipe. I just don't want the pipe too big under there and look stupid form the side of the car or bottom out easy. There's a place in Michigan called Classic Chambered exhaust, I am gonna try to cram a section of there Powersticks in somewhere and loop it back to exit into the stock looking chrome tips that dump in front of the tires. There kinda like the inserts for the corvette side pipes. They vary in length so I'll see which size I can fit in there 18" to 31". I thought about the free flow straight pipes like Cranky suggested, but would like to tone it down a little bit.

If you’re at 450 hp-ish, which it sounds like you might be, the Dynomax Super Turbo 17748 will not hurt your performance relative to s straight through muffler.

Dynomax Ultraflow. Straight through muffler and sound pretty good.

dyna ultraflows will be the way to go.
does anyone have a correct number for length and with 2.5

I use the offset in / center out configuration.

If straight through is what you want and noise is of no concern, you have many options. If you want straight through with better noise reduction, get the longer body 17513 Ultra Flos.

Not on a Mopar, but my '87 Chevy R10 4x2 has a set of Hooker headers with 2-1/2" duals, with 32" long, 2-1/2" I/O Smithy glasspacks, and the tips exit under the truck in front of the rear axle. My cab has zero sound deadening, so at 60 mph...well, yeah, it's pretty loud. But going down the road, it's not obnoxious and it sounds fantastic. Sometimes, old school is the best school.

As above, hard to beat dynomax ultra-flows.
But there's basically three sounds/tones available. Straight thru, triple pass, and chambered (flowmaster).
I'd figure out which tone I liked first.
Then I'd decide how loud I want it. Short case is loud, long case is quieter.
My philosophy for great power, and quiet sound is: proper tube size for the application, and the biggest fattest longest muffler I can get under the car.
3" in/out magnaflow with a 24" long case (Straight thru) on my car.

I'm taking the dynamax ultra Flos I have in my 67 Belvedere TTI exhaust and going with Borla ProXS. Just mostly because I had the borlas just laying around and I like the sound.

What did you say sonny? I can't hear you! :poke:
Straights ain't as loud as some think with normal driving plus you can add small crimps to the pipe to quiet it down some. They are loud when you are on the hammer though. Air flow is down the center of the pipe with boundary layer air being slower. Medium size crimps do not bother the air in the center.....and doesn't affect ET. I installed 7 crimps in a 4' long pipe on my 95 V6 Dakota and noticed a difference in sound. It definately needed more but I was just experimenting. I started running straights back in the mid 70's and NEVER got a ticket but did get stopped for excessive noise due to spinning of tires. That car had straights on it too. Go figure. One great thing about a straight system is that they are CHEAP!!

Had Borlas on a car (I think they were XR1's) and they made a difference in sound but were still loud. I'm thinking the XR1's are the short round ones....? They were on a high 9 second car.

I was mistaken they are Borla ProXS.

I ran 3 1/2 in/out hooker aeroflows on my Tina. They were the cheapest 3 1/2s I could find. Good sound once I got used to it (chambered muffler, but don't sound like Flowmasters), pretty quiet for what they are, and went high nines thru em. (More than doubled in price since I bought em..... but what hasnt?!)
