Chrysler Historical Services were not taking Build Record searches last year due to making some changes to their system. They are now up and running.

I sent my application for my 1962 Polara at the end of December and received my package today.

I received a copy the Build Record Certificate, taken from microfilm, a breakdown of the card and a 25 page booklet on the 1962 Polara 500. Lots of illustrations, specs, options ect.

I heard that this car was sold in California but didn't have the proof. (John Drew Motors Inc. Sacramento Ca.) Also the Build Certificate was long gone. Worth the $55.!

Very cool! Says no info for Canadian built vehicles. How can you tell where it was built or for what market?

Very cool stuff! I'm going to send in for 3 of mine. I wonder if I can get a multi-car discount. ;)

Thanks. They all show built in US though. Mine was built in Hamtramck MI according to the vin. Just wondering if it was built for Canada. Don't know if we had any chrysler factories back then.

There were quite a few built in Canada. Right hand drive, Plymouth dashes on dodge vehicles, different names, ect. There were imported models also as well as the US exports.

I wish there was info out there for us later model owners. Should have gotten Gerardo Rivera on the case back in the '90's to dig up the landfill where the info was dumped. Or maybe they all got burnt...

Good to hear they're back up and running. I sent my stuff in for my Satellite in the fall but it was returned saying they weren't doing them again until after the first of the year. I just sent it back in earlier this week. I had my Belvedere done several years ago - I think it was $40 or $45 then. It's good info to have.

What KK got is exactly what I got for my 62 Belvedere about a year ago for $50.

It looks like the link to the Chrysler Historical Services is gone, or I'm I missing something?

So I'm guessing if my car is a 68 Charger they do not have records, correct?

There are some of us without pre 68 cars that would still love to see clean copies of IBM cards for decoding purposes.

If you happen to be one of the lucky ones that receives a nice clean copy of a card, from any year, we’d love to see it.

                            Thanks.

I emailed Danielle a couple of weeks ago about what the status is of their services. I pasted her response below. They don't charge anymore (they never did cash either of my checks over the past 10 years anyway), but they don't do the decode anymore. Fastback Jon from the '66-'67 Charger site does a really nice job of decoding and reproducing high quality card replicas.

                            Hello Dave,

The FCA Archives is happy to be able to provide you with a copy of the build card for your historic vehicle without charge. However, due to the volume of requests we receive and the modest staff that we have, we are unable to offer the decoding service and copied material that we have in the past. Please provide us with proof of ownership, i.e. a copy of the title or registration, and your mailing address and we will send you the build card.
We will, when possible, provide you with the original selling dealers name and city.

Unfortunately, we do not have the actual build cards. These records were put on microfilm many years ago. Nothing further was ever passed along to the archives. We can only provide a copy from the microfilm file.
I believe the Historical Collection section of the FCA website was modified recently and our build card service may not be displayed on there at this moment. Since the service has been changed for now, we had the order form and details taken off the site until we can offer this again. You may pass along my email or mailing address if others are interested. We only require a copy of the title or registration and a mailing address to send the build cards. If anyone happens to have any questions, I would be happy to help.

Thank you for contacting us and we hope that the build card information is helpful to you.

                            Danielle Szostak-Viers
