Console bracket placement measurements.

If anyone has a console car and your brackets are exposed, can you take a few measurements as to where to place them? I’m thinking if I base the front and rear off the middle bracket, I should be good. You can see in the picture it sits nice and level and the curve grabs the tunnel nice.

Level side to side like you have it and then pay close attention to the shift rod that goes down through the rubber
flex seal. It should be relatively centered in the hole.

I have that, I bought that from Classic Industries last year. I should have everything I need to add the console.

That's what I'm doing now. Instead of bolting it up I'm duct taping it up for now.

Your floor looks like mine. Would you say its a safe bet to say that screw hole I circled on the front bracket is at 29" and what is the measurement for the front bracket to the front body seam?

The console is centered between the pinch welds at the doors, easy to figure out with a center line.

So your saying to find the center of those pinch welds and that should be the center of the console? I will check that out. Thanks.

I don't have a front seam measurement to the brackets just a measurement from the rear seam. Here is a detail photo of the front bracket looks to me like 28 and 5/8ths

I think I almost have it. It’s centered with the rear armrest, half console. It seems to me the brackets I pulled from the parts car will need some tweaking to work with my car. I can level the shifter and the console front and rear if I added some metal under the brackets before welding them. I’ve been fighting this half the afternoon.

I was able to plum the shifter and that left plenty of room all around for that rod.

I was measuring thinking the center of the tunnel was centered, but its not. I centered the console off the rear arm rest/back console. Once I figured that out, I was able to see what the problem was.

Well worth the effort. The console really makes the car interior.

Once I get these brackets welded on, I can start hooking up the linkage and start working on the steering column.
