View attachment 1277669 View attachment 1277669 Did a search and did not see a answer. U-Joint ? I was given a 8 3/4 " with limited slip/3.73 gearing . The u-joint sizes are different between axle and drive shaft. Brought these measurements to NAPA and they were not able to help me. Hoping someone here has run into this before and can help me out . Unknown year on rear axle. Drive shaft on a 64 440 with a 318 over a push button 727.

Chrysler only had two joints they used back then, the axle is probably a 7290 (big) joint, and the shaft a 7260 (small) joint. The conversion to make this work is a Moog 347.

Thanks on order as of now

The cup diameter 1.188 on a 1350. His cup is 1.125= 7290.

Your right Fran. Still something amiss on the other end.

For those watching from home there was a 3rd u-joint that came in some mopar cars. 1966 and 1967 440 B&C Bodies and hemi B bodies used a 1330 with external retainer clips. Different slip yoke and rear end yokes from the 7260 and 7290

And 66/67 440 and 426 cars used a slip yoke up front with a 1330 u joint (no longer available). That may be the same thing R413 is saying.

More info on 1330 u-joints. I’ve had 3 1967 Imperials which all had U-bolts holding the rear u joint to the yoke.

Ive had 11 1967 GTX and Coronet R/T cars which all had 1/4x28 bolts and straps holding the rear u-joint to the yoke.

The rear axle yokes have a metal tab on each side to center the u-joint. I’ve had a couple that were worn and the u-joint would move side to side before it was bolted down. This is bad amd the yoke should be replaced because it won’t be on center.

There was (maybe still are) 1330 u-bolt yokes being sold in the aftermarket.

Cup size for a 1330 is 1.0625". OP posted larger u-joint cup size as 1.125"=7290 cup size.

Spicer still makes a few variations of the 1330

Fran - probably wasn’t clear enough - it’s the 1330 slip yoke that doesn’t appear to be available anymore. The 1330 u joints are no problem.

Yes , but the 3-1/2 dimension is consistent with outside clips - a 1350 u- joint. He may have posted an incorrect dimension. The 7260 and 7290 are dimensioned from the inside of the caps, a much smaller dimension.

My drawings seems to suck so lots of pic's. Drive shaft side is internal clips shaft has numbers 072802 forged in . With the straps on the third , those would be internal clips also correct?

Both look like internal clip type to me. I expected to see little tabs on the yoke to locate the caps/u joint, but lacking that, it would have to use an internal clip u joint, I believe. Probably a 7260/7290 as Master Gunner initially said.

Curious - does the inner side of the yoke saddle appear to have a uniform surface that the internal clips will seat against?

Thanks for all the insights the MOOG 347 was the ticket. Now brake lines.
