Who can tell me the curb weight for a 65 Bel II 383 /auto 2dr hardtop? Curious for spring purchase. (Now I'm Getting ****!) Thunder

Options will play a big role in final weight.
Power steering?
Power brakes?
Air Conditioning?

Anywhere from 3,500 to 3,800 lbs. would be my guesstimate.

My Coronet 500 w/440/727/ac/ps/ 3/4 tank of fuel was 3941 without my sveldt figure in it.

it'll be apx 3400#s
That seems pretty low for a car that hasn't been on a substantial diet. The listed "curb weights" were based on real stripper cars. Actual weights will be higher based on options. My '65 Coronet was over 3700# with 426W, 727 & 8 3/4, not much else, no power anything.

it's difficult to get an all steel street car below 3600lbs, doable but not easy; and driver weight should be factored in. 3500lbs would be low with 3600-3700lbs more likely. my 65 coronet is 3700+ with a big block, auto, no PS or brakes, no a/c.

Just for a comparison. My '65 all steel except fiberglass bumpers and the A990 seats and is 3,300 lbs exactly with half cell of gas. However, its a back half coil over suspension. Factory metal cut out and is tubbed. Two batteries in trunk and iron headed motor. Just FYI.

Okay so to get technical , when they describe springs for example, a 3400lb car, am I to include myself into the equation or just worry about the actual vehicle weight? The next step up in SS springs is 3800lbs. Seems a bit too far up! Just Asking!!

65 Belvedere 2 H/T, headers, iron 440, 2 Eddys, alum intake, 727, 8 3/4, manual steering, manual factory frt disc, no exhaust, bench seats frt &rear, steel rear wheels, 15x4 Americans front, no spare, radio, or jack. 3600lbs w/o driver. There is plenty that can come off. My 64 Belvedere post with mega block, all steel including bumpers (except glass hood), full interior except no back seat, 12 pt cage, Dana, 727, 3095 lbs w/o driver.

So it looks to be in my best interest to purchase 3800 pound springs.

My buddy's 64 Savoy with full interior as well as the big cast iron max wedge exhaust scaled at 3800# w/o driver. We haven't scaled my 65 yet.

car needs a driver. i wouldn't be afraid of 3800b springs. a friend had a set on his '64 belvedere and they seemed to work fine. others have been ok with 3400's but if i were to do a set for my '65 coronet they would be 3800's because that is closer to the driving weight.

some of this may depend on if you expect a lot of track time or road miles. if it's more road miles i'd lean towards the street hemi/440 springs with the appropriate hangers.

3800 lb SS springs with 30 psi in the shocks.

Thunder ....just throw that HEMI in it and be done with it!:steering:hope it is ready this summer...

I had my 63 fury weighted it is 3440 with a 440 4 speed half tank of gas two car show chairs in trunk

I use the 3400 lb SS springs on my 63 Sport Fury. Car weighs about 3725 with my 180 in it. I bought my SS springs from Mancini about 8 years ago. They work fine for me in my street car that see's the track about once a year. Ron
