Damn pesky birds.

Wow! No ****.

I've only been to Glenview once. When my cousin graduated boot camp.
You talking about Glenview or the Great Lakes Naval Training Center which is in North Chicago? The air base was about 15 miles southwest of the Great Lakes Naval Training Center, which is still in operation and is boot camp for about 40,000 Navy recruits annually.
The Glenview Naval Air Station was home to several Navy reserve air squadrons, a Marine air unit, and there was an Army Reserve helicopter unit and Coast Guard rescue unit there too until it was closed in 1995.
During WW2 it was the training base for all carrier pilots and they used a couple makeshift aircraft carriers operating in Lake Michigan to carrier qualify the pilots, safe from U boats. A lot of history there, it was sad to see it closed and the land reused for housing and shopping centers.
