Valve lash, poor grinding, mass production are all things that affect your camshaft installation point "degreeing". As shown in the article, a cam card may not get you any closer to having a camshaft successfully installed then just lining up the dots and forgetting about it.
Also, if you don’t know where it should be installed, this method will provide the correct numbers for you to be successful.
