Interesting day, had a tooth thats been acting up from time to time.
It was crowned in the 80s but no root canal.
Well guess what...it and is buddy next in line both need root canals.
The other has a filling that has gave up.wtf
So I challenge the dentist , a kind of prove it to me deal.
You guys know that other thread on intelligence. Well I won't be posting on it.
She my ever so lovely dentist taps on each tooth with some kind of chrome battle axe.
She is 100% right......
So tomarrow I am calling a couple different places looking for a deal on a dbl. Root canal . My dentist does not do them she farms them out.
Time is now the enemy cause I have knee ortherscopic repair next week. This **** is almost funny, trying to hurry up a dbl root canal so I can limp around for a couple weeks.
The easy and cheap way out would be just pull the teeth. Well....... can't do that one of them is a anchor tooth for my partial plate.
Pull it and I have to get the plate redone.
Ok, I'm done bitching. Even the better half is getting a kick out of this.
Like the other thread on dbl. Checking accts. Yep you guessed it we have them.

Root canals are easy. I fell asleep during the only one I’ve ever had.

I had one root canal, 35 years ago, he made sure I'll never have another... I expected some pain but not that much... Especially since I was friends with the dental assistant.. Turns out he had been trying to get in her pants & she wasn't having it.. And when I came in not knowing she worked there & got a big hug from her... She told me later that she'd never seen him do a root canal quite like mine.... Maybe he was a fan of Marathon Man...

Depends on your nerves.

Mine were excruciating.

...unless I got 3-5 times the "normal" Novocaine dosage.

Places that do implants are also usually root canal specialists, and also usually do sedation.

Might be a little more pricey.....might be worth it.

The only problem with getting old is, everything starts to fall off or out. The problem with pulling the back uppers or lower teeth is it causes the others to descend or slowly pull themselves out if they don't have each other to sit on. So leave your wallet at the front desk...... They'll know how much to take out!! Good luck!!

I've had a bunch of root canals - all relatively painless. About six months ago I had a tooth acting up. I had an upcoming appointment for a cleaning so held off a couple weeks. They did the "tap, tap" thing and took x-rays and said the root(s) were too small for my dentist to do and would require a "specialist". Ch-ching ... $1600.. Insurance covered $1000.. But it doesn't end there 'cause the specialist only puts a temp filling in. He also tells me the tooth next to it - which had been filled years ago - should come out. So back to my dentist who pulls the bad tooth and caps the root canaled tooth. The pulling was about $50 out of pocket - insurance covered the rest. The capping was another $1600. - insurance will again cover about $1000.. All that since January. And that's used up my insurance for the year !!

I have had several root canals. I had one emergency one without Novocaine. It hurt like hell but when he was done it was pure relief.

Wow, I usually skip the novacaine for fillings.
But a root canal I think would make you jump out of the seat!

I had one root canal on a tooth about 2 years ago, never again. Had a tooth last year that needed one and I told him to pull it! 440'

I haven’t had dental insurance for 3or 4 years and it’s been a couple years since i had a cleaning . Went to the dentist a couple days ago and they said I need a deep cleaning. They will only do one side at a time and it will be $444 per side. I forgot to ask them if I get a discount because I have a missing tooth. I didn’t want to talk about repairing a crown for almost $2000. These guys only work about 3 days a week. Guess they can afford it.

Getting everything lined up, Dentist put me on a antibiotic until I can get in for the root canals.
I would just as soon be putting this cash towards a set of rpms or trick flows for my 67. Lol,
Knowing my luck they will wait until after my knee scope to do the teeth.
Plus I'm into the middle of a 10k deer hit and a newer prius and waiting on parts ha ha.

I am the biggest pussy with Dentists. My last was a "Sedation" Dentist. Never knew he was ever there. Gonna get knocked out from now on. No more Camel Toe for me.

I go every 3 months to get my teeth cleaned, and this gal has no problem digging for oil! But I do have a lot of baby teeth that never came out as there wasn’t any adult teeth to back them up. So my dentist has me on a 3 month schedule and the VA pays for it by way of the tax payers… thanks!!

Best get them teeth fixed up.....over here you are not allowed to proceed with any surgery if your teeth are not 100%.

Infections can result apparently. That's the rules here at least.

Yeah, I had a couple of those on my jawbone too - got over 50 years out of them before
we made the decision to remove them (one had chipped finally).
Never had adult teeth to replace them - blamed it on selective ancestral inbreeding. :)
Those actually fuse themselves to your jawbone and don't have blood vessels going to them - crazy, eh?

Wife and I do have dental insurance - we go in twice a year and "Greta" gives mine the what-fer on
cleaning, as I requested.
I was just in yesterday morning on a sort of emergency - had a piece of an old filling bust out of a molar.
The Dentist is a really good guy, great sense of humor - and damn good at what he does.
No shots, just a small pad soaked with numbing agent that he sticks up against your gumline in there.
I never felt a thing, other than the "concrete form" he set in there to make the new cap/filling with.
Makes it real easy on a "dental wimp" like me. I HATE dental pain!
