A local auto radio show dedicated the entire show to naming cars, what did you name it and why?
The host was a really good guy and stayed on the air for over a year even after being diagnosed with cancer which he never mentioned on his show.

So, did you name your car? If so, why that name?

My vehicles have always been named. The Charger was originally named Violet and after her engine and transmission from the Cordoba she is now Lady V. The Cordoba was Ladyfinger, so we just combined them. The Sport Fury is Louise and the Hearse is Uncle Mel. My Camry is Lady Boz and my wife’s Scion XB is Winkie.

Mine get names when there earned.
I don't name them till I Know about it.
The car I'm building now is a 1938 Cadillac
It had a bit so nice vib to it when I meet it. Something bad evil even . I've came across this feeling before when I was big in to WW1- WW2 stuff mostly knives there was one in particular that freaked everyone out that touched it even caused the hairs on my neck to stand and send a chill the first time I held it. I thought it was covered in rust I had it looked at to clean it up some the guy said it was very old blood and he didn't even want it near his shop said it scared him. Soooo.
This old grandma Cadillac sent me this not nice feeling and made me look into it a bit more finding it was in really good shape overall (normal I wouldn't touch this style car) so I bought it guy was practically giving it away .
Then I started pulling out some strange items medicine needles gun ..... All very old maybe doctor stuff had gun looked at by my cop buddy . Said it was fine... Tossed the rest away . Then there was some old sin city stuff in truck and I started think wow who ever owned this was about having fun. My helper said maybe the devil came up for a vacation and had a good ol time in this car . So I decided to build what I thought the devil would drive out of this car and named it sinner!

There's been others but they come and go .
My kid named my super bee the
racing banana it then got a name change to yellow submarine
            Most know why!

"The Roach" was a '74 Duster that was just as bad as the name implies.

              IMG_1439.JPG

"Old Shitty" was a '74 Dodge Camper 9000 2 wd truck. It was great for dirty jobs but a real UNrefined truck.

              DSCN0733.JPG

"NEW Old Shitty" replaced OS and is a much better truck, though still rough around the edges.

After I bought this XH '70 Charger and thought about how many cars had to be parted out to make this car whole, I decided to call it "Jigsaw"

              IMG_4862.JPG

Of course....My red car needed a name now that I named the junky one. I named this one "Ginger":

Maybe once I paint Jigsaw and it looks nice, I'll call it "Mary-Anne".
              Gilligan would like that.

My car got named by some little girls. The paint is called Fire Prism Red. It changes color based on the lighting. Around the corner of where we used to live was two little girls. I got to be friends with their dad shortly after they moved in. One evening took the car out and stopped at their place. The girls loved the car. They almost always saw it in the evening and it looked kinda purple. I would take them around the neighborhood and they enjoyed it so much. Huge grins and giggles when I'd step on the gas. They were about 3 and 4 years old. They struggled with saying Plymouth Road Runner and instead said Purple Thunder. With the right lighting, and the loud exhaust, it's what made sense to them. So that's what stuck.
                20150915_182847.jpg
When we got the sticker on it, had to show them and take them for ice cream in the car they named.
They would get so excited when they'd hear us come by. They would run out of the house or into the front yard yelling, "Purple Thunder! Purple Thunder!" We always had to stop to see them and let them climb around in the car or go for a ride.

I don't normally name my vehicles, but the GTX got named by my wife - after she made the
observation that I always referred to the car as a "she" when it behaved and a "he" when it
was being obstinate (which was/is most of the time).
She'd had enough of that for years, so....

                    Ginger, meet Fred. :)

My wife also is quite fond of my '04 Ram SLT 4x4 hemi. He's a real stump-jumper, short WB/short bed
on factory 20's. She actually used him for commuting to work a few years even - she likes the view from
                    up in there.
                    She named him "Bert":
                    DSCF0649.JPG

Oddly enough, her own '12 Charger R/T has never been given a nickname - we just
refer to it as "her car" and I get weekend visitations. :)

The only thing that I have that has a name is the 2019 ram and its called the Grey ghost just for its charcoal color. The PowerWagon assumed its own name as it keeps it seperate from the ram since they are both Rams. Sometimes I call it the DODGE too just because the new one is technically a RAM and it just seems fitting for it. The Charger is the Super lemon just cause the neighbor called it that and it stuck haha! I call it that or the Charger because, well.......it's a F'n Charger and I have just always thought they were so cool growing up with my Dad having one and then just loving them in general. The Roadrunner runner is just the Runner or the Ridge Rammer because a buddy of mine said that is what they used to call them and it stuck. He has since passed and he is who I bought the Charger from(well his wife) when he passed, so it all fits I guess. Oh and the Deere gets called Johnny Dizzle because my buddies always called them that so it just stuck too haha! Good thread right here!

“Maggie”. Named after the previous owner’s grandma. He said that his grannie sat at the window of his house and watched him working on the car. She then died. When he went to sell it, two previous times the car wouldn’t start so the deals fell through. I told him that when I showed up to buy it, if it didn’t start, the deal was dead. It started right up and we brought it home. Then he told us about his grannie and that she probably haunted the car and didn’t want to go home with the other two potential buyers.

The wife keeps trying to name this car. She tried “Slimey”, “Greenie”, and “Keylime”. I keep telling her the car has 2 names already: Plymouth Barracuda!

Of all the cars I've owned, including six GTXs, I've only named one. Baby Blue was my first GTX purchased as a collector car, in 1983, before they were worth anything. My hunch about her future value was correct, and I sold her for three times her purchase price in 1991. The saying goes that if you love it enough to set it free, it will come back to you, which my GTX finally did in 2013. I always loved "Baby Blue," sung by the Echoes in 1961, and after seeing a Youtube video of the tune featuring vintage blue cars, the name seemed appropriate.

I would feel it was presumptuous to give a name to something that has already named itself.

Jessica was my Charger back in the 80's... named after Jessica Rabbit. Nadine is my current Coronet 500... a southern name for a southern car, plus I love the song from Arc Angels. My daily driver Tacoma is Hamish... he's Scottish, but not a "Highlander". She loved her car so much she used a Dynamo label maker to print her name on a label that was then placed on the ash tray of the car.
While the label has long been gone the outline of the label and the letters that were on it can still be seen. When I go for a drive it’s just me and Mabel… 089CA1D6-D665-4FBB-875D-15C4C4CA8B85.jpeg

He brought his General Lee Charger over to mount and balance some new tires,so I was busting his ass about his racist Dodge,he said you mean racing Dodge,I said no racist Dodge. He said what color is that Dodge you are working on? I said its white.he said that's the original color,I said yes,he said your Dodge was born white,so its the white privilege Dodge! So its now known as the white privilege Dodge. WPD for short. Crazy? yep as crazy as all this BS going on out there!

Never named any of my cars but the some of the trucks got names. 1st one was a 79 Dodge D300 single wheel Adventurer SE....Edna. It was whipped and beat (but not too bad) when I bought it in the mid 80's and I whipped it some more for the next 10 years. My wife wanted to name my 2500 diesel Big Red but the first thing that came to my mind was Big Red soda and well....I'm not calling it that but these days it's just Red1 and the 96 Dakota is Red2 since they are both red (I'm not a fan of red either lol) and I got the diesel first.
