SOLD Direct Connection all aluminum A833 Race Transmission – Short Tailshaft

Description: Offering an all-aluminum (main case, side cover, tail shaft housing) A833. This unit was built by Cliff Knight Inc. (a Valiant-Plymouth dealer in Livonia, MI) specifically for a high-performance application. This unit has been in dry storage in Arizona since around 1980. I recently pulled the pilot shaft housing to verify the front input bearing size.

Technical Specs & Notes:

• Tailshaft Housing: Aluminum Short A-body (12.625") with rear mount. No casting numbers.
• VIN pad: Stamped "CLIFF K" along with clearance specs on the VIN pad.
• Main Case: Direct Connection (DC) "Blank" aluminum case with a Steel-Bushed countershaft bore.
• Front Input Bearing: Verified heavy-duty 308 Hemi-spec bearing (Stamped 308LOE). 4.80" cast iron bearing retainer Input shaft is standard 23-spline.
• Internal Spec: 2.66 Close-Ratio gears. Equipped with bronze shift forks and Aluminum ball-detent side cover.
• Speedometer: Includes a plugged speedometer drive (racing spec).
• Shift Rods: Adjustments are welded (race spec).
• Misc.: Includes Hurst shifter mount.
• Note: The aluminum bellhousing has been removed from this sale and is no longer included.

Note: This features the classic A-body short tailshaft configuration, but I'm listing it here for the serious engine builders and track guys looking for a vintage Direct Connection performance piece.
